The Bolga basket revival

In 2015, there were fewer than 200 full-time basket weavers left in Bolgatanga. Today that number is over 2,000. What changed? Three things: elephant grass cooperatives made raw materials affordable; overseas buyers came directly to the region; and a generation of younger women learned the craft from grandmothers who thought the tradition was dying.
